Dunga Leaving After World Cup

Brazil national team coach Dunga stated his intention to leave the national team after the 2010 World Cup, even if Brazil wins the tournament.

Dunga has made his plans clear for quite a while now. “Nothing will change my mind. Not even winning the World Cup. My commitment to the Brazilian football federation ends after the 2010 World Cup,” Dunga said on Blog do Cosme Rimoli.

“I know that the next World Cup will take place in Brazil, but there is nothing in the world that will make me change my mind. It is an honour to be in the most coveted position in world football. Leading the Brazilian national team is a real privilege.

“However, it is one of the most demanding positions there is for a person. The pressure is enormous and not just for you. Your family and beloved ones have to endure a lot as well. Four years in charge are more than enough for me.”

Luiz Felipe Scolari is the favorite candidate to step into the coaching position. With Scolari as manager, Ronaldinho will back into the team.

“I have learned a lot and I am still learning,” Dunga added. “It’s time to go on with my life after the World Cup. I will continue as a coach at club level. Being a coach is my new career and I do not want to change.”
