Brazil’s Ronaldo to Retire 2011

Ronaldo has announced his plans to retire in 2011.

Ronaldo was a member of the 1994 and 2002 World Cup winning Brazil national team. He has been playing for the Brazilian club Corinthians since 2009 and will hang his boots once his contract with the club ends.

“I’ve decided these are my last two seasons. I will do my best, I hope to have fun, and win some trophies”, said the Brazilian striker.

Ronaldo has had a brilliant career. He earned 97 caps with the national team and scored 62 goals, and set a record with his 15th World Cup goal in the 2006 finals.

Ronaldo still hopes to play in the 2010 World Cup. With his age and injuries, it may not be easy to convince the national team coach Dunga to pick him.

“I still have chance to play in South Africa, but not in my Brazil in 2014. It is clear that time passes”, said Ronaldo.

“It’s a thing that can still happen to me,” he added optimistically.
